Katita est née vers quatre heures du matin dans une chambre d'hôtel à Hong Kong, enfant d'un décalage horaire sévère. La clé fait allusion aux chapeaux de cuir « Cangaceiros », les éleveurs du nord-est du Brésil portaient dans le passé. Katita a été nommée d'après une petite chienne bâtarde à Rio qui venait de donner naissance à une portée de six chiots. Elle est devenue une héroïne nationale au Brésil pour avoir sauvé la vie d'un garçon de trois ans qui était attaqué par deux pitbulls vicieux. Elle a été très gravement blessée en repoussant les bêtes, mais a survécu. Ce produit est un hommage au courage de Katita.
