Category: critters

Like the Mars Rover, this six limbed mechanical creature is eager for terrestrial exploration. The nickel plated body is the first member of Kikkerland’s wind-up family that has double spinning off-center weights and a pull string. There are two ways to set this eager little machine into exploration mode; when you pull the “Saturn” planet knob on top while holding the pull string, you can guide this little rover on its path, or you can let it go and watch it forge its own destiny.

Jacob ★★★★★

The nickel plating gives it a nice heft, and I love watching its six legs spin in opposite directions as it trundles across the floor. It’s oddly satisfying to wind up and set loose on different surfaces.

Claire ★★★★★

Wound it up on my desk and watched it scuttle across like a tiny Martian explorer—the double spinning wheels are oddly hypnotic. The nickel plating gives it a nice weight, feels sturdier than your average wind-up toy, and it’s held up through a dozen laps without slowing down.

Harper ★★★★★

The way its six legs alternate in a smooth walking motion is mesmerizing—it really does feel like a tiny rover exploring the desk. The nickel-plated body has a nice weight to it, and the double spinning off-center action adds an unexpected wobble that makes each stroll unique.
