I grabbed an old plastic bottle from recycling, and the elastic bands held everything in place even when I tested it in the bathtub. The sail really catches the air, and my kid was thrilled to see it glide.

I taped the mast to a cork from a wine bottle, and my little sailboat actually floated across the pond without tipping—the rudder really helps with steering.

The elastic bands are a clever touch—I hooked them onto a plastic bottle and the sail stayed upright even in a decent breeze. Everything fit together in about ten minutes, and the rudder actually steered it across the pond. Perfect little project for a rainy afternoon.
